STANCE aims for higher ground

STANCE (Schools Taking Action for Nebraska Children's Education) is a newly formed organization that aims to elevate the discussion around school resources and best practices by promoting the same principles that Senator Sullivan has been emphasizing:

*Equity
*Sustainability
*Predictability
*Simplicity

As superintendents, we want to take the ethical high ground and make sure that instead of advocating for narrow self interest, we are pushing and promoting a state aid discussion that is about meeting the needs of all students across Nebraska.  As Mike Lucas has put it, we are about "less battleground and more common ground."

Introducing STANCE

STANCE is a new coalition of Nebraska public school districts formed for the purpose of cooperative dialog on issues that matter and common-sense legislative advocacy.

The group formed in the spring of 2013.

STANCE promotes best practices and fair and equitable distribution of resources to k-12 districts.  STANCE will use this website and social media as tools for promoting information and awareness about research-based means of improving schools for Nebraska children.  STANCE advocates for providing adequate resources to ensure Nebraska children have the means and equal access to an optimal schooling experience no matter what community they represent or what county they are from.

The group has no paid lobbyist influence and advocacy is based on authentic consensus-building from member districts.  We will speak plainly and honestly.

STANCE represents the voices of school superintendents and their Boards of Education from a diverse range of  mid-sized Nebraska districts.

We look forward to building relationships and working with senators in the upcoming 2014 legislative session.
